We are passionate about communicating the positive outcomes of development for rural and marginalised communities.

Africa!Ignite's team draws on our development background and our marketing experience in the business sector to provide a unique marketing and communications consultancy service to non-profit organisations, government and emerging businesses.

Partnering with Africa!Ignite provides opportunities to improve our corporate partners’ BEE ratings through access to rural entrepreneurs.

We facilitate projects on behalf of clients such as:

  • the Rockefeller Brothers Fund - a two-year strategic communications capacity-building programme for grantee organisations
  • eThekwini Municipality - water and sanitation training project for rural schools and communities in partnership with MiET Africa
  • Training and Resources in Early Education (TREE) - production of a DVD on the Siyafundisana pilot programme, to advocate for the adoption of the model by local and national government
  • the Development Bank of South Africa - updating of a water and sanitation educational toolkit for municipalities, in partnership with eThekwini Municipality
WATER
Our Health, Our Environment
Making a difference to the health and quality of life of KwaZulu-Natal’s rural communities was the vision behind the eThekwini Municipality Water and Sanitation learning series for schools and communities. 120 youth outreach workers conducted street theatre events and workshops to reach community members around 60 rural education centres, and learning materials were developed for teachers and learners in about 480 schools around education centres.

A positive and empowering “Your health is in your hands” approach was adopted, and topics covered included the safe and sustainable use of water and opportunities for community participation in catchment management forums.

Communications Capacity Building

In partnership with the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) Africa!Ignite has designed a marketing and communications capacity-building programme to build the capacity of organisations to sustain themselves and advance their work through strategic communications planning and more effective marketing. The programme was offered to 10 organisations over two years in 2008 / 2009 and was tested and refined over this period. The response from participating organisations has been overwhelmingly positive, as evaluation forms show.
